Hello, friends!
My name is Kristen O’Brien and I am a Bachelor-prepared registered nurse working in emergency medicine in Northwestern Michigan.
The highlight reels of my career: I started my nursing career as a hospital volunteer in 2004 transitioning to a nursing assistant in 2006. I worked on a telemetry, step-down unit for a few years while I obtained my certification in practical nursing (LPN). I worked as an LPN for about 5 years, while I studied my Associate Degree in Nursing, in a wide range of fields, from long-term care to home care to hospice. Once I graduated with my RN and passed the boards I began working on a telemetry, stroke/neurological unit for about 4 years. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree and became a nurse educator at my local college where I was a clinical instructor for first semester students, which I absolutely loved! It’s what inspired me to take this site to where it is. I began working in emergency medicine in 2019 and have been there since. Every day is a different experience! Currently I’m also working on my Masters of Science in Nursing degree with a focus as a Nurse Educator.
A little about the site: Kristen O’Brien, BSN, RN is a resource site for current and future nurses of all levels of education. Here you will find everything you need to know from tips on how to study, information all about pharmacology and the American Psychological Association (APA) style of writing, as well as a breakdown of the NCLEX and practice questions. I also break down complex medical topics in to easy to digest concepts that you can add to your brain of nursing knowledge. There is a little bit of everything for everyone!
